MOD. - Seven Siblings from the Future

Imagine this, we’re in the year 2050, our world faces even bigger challenges that we have ever faced, and there are seven influential siblings, who each have their own distinct perspectives that aim to shape the decisions going forward in Eucalara, a land in Southern Australia of which the seven siblings have inherited from their great-grandmother.

Seven Siblings from the Future is the fourth exhibition by MOD. (Museum of Discovery). The exhibition is an adaptation of the original exhibition that debuted in November 2017 at the Heureka Science Centre in Helsinki, Finland.

Throughout the exhibition, you’ll meet each of the seven siblings: Ava, Julia, Luca, Kai, Alex, Mia, and Rowan. The portrayals and perspectives of each of the seven siblings is representative of many of the perspectives that we see regarding the current issues that both our world and Eucalara faces, including survival, land-use, climate change, job automation, and genetic modification.

You’ll need a mobile device to download the app associated with the exhibition in order to get the full experience, as Seven Siblings from the Future features various interactive activities for museum explorers to engage with throughout the exhibition.

Some of these interactive activities include visiting Mia’s hair salon for a virtual haircut and a chat about the anxieties of job automation, helping Luca build his idea of a Marina with the most important institutions and adequate public transport networks, and taking a ride on the futuristic Hypertrain and helping Kai find his true love during the ride.

Before you head down to MOD. to explore Seven Siblings from the Future, be prepared to have your values challenged, influential decision-making processes tested, and problem-solving skills ready. It is a highly thought-provoking and insightful exhibition for you to explore with yourself or with others.
