OmMade Meet the Maker – VIP Night

OmMade Meet the Maker is a retail concept focused on offering local makers an opportunity to consign their products in a physical store.

Founded by Tina Walsh of OmMade Organic Skincare, OmMade Meet the Maker has created a strong presence across South Australia within the past three years, offering customers a one-stop shop for locally made and ethically sourced products.

Since opening their first retail store in the Adelaide Central Market in October 2018, they have opened a store in Westfield Marion and more recently in Rundle Place, located in the heart of Rundle Mall. Additionally, they’ve been able to expand beyond South Australia and have opened a store in Ringwood, Victoria.

Primarily residing in shopping centres filled with mass-produced products, OmMade Meet the Maker is a refreshing sight amongst the crowd of commonly found stores.

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of their store at Westfield Marion, they hosted a VIP Night for their loyal customers. The night was filled with food, drink, a fashion parade, shopping, and a valuable opportunity for attendees to meet each of the makers in-store. VIP attendees were also treated to a goodie bag worth $100 in value and various door prizes as well.

Throughout the night, attendees were given the opportunity to meet the makers from Katshed Crafts, Primrose Hill Set, WRAPPA Reusables, Collections: A Group of Things, Shannon O’Neill, Elle Hill Designs, Morocco by Mish, Kindred Self, The Laser Shack, WA Creation Studio, GILLI Stationery, Brewed by Belinda, OmMade Organic Skincare, KIN Soaps, Forget It Not Designs, and Kutumba Global Treasures.

Upon chatting with various makers throughout the night, it was evident that all the makers share a mutual goal to produce and source their products with local, sustainable, and ethical principles at the forefront.

Every question I asked was responded to in such a genuine and transparent way, and it was delightful to learn more about each maker. I also discovered that each maker is also passionate about other makers’ products and love promoting every single product in store.

Being able to put a face to the product you buy is a great feeling, as you are supporting local and know where your money is going towards. There is always something special about chatting with a maker in detail about their small business, their concept, and the process in which they use to make and source their products.

As consumers are increasingly demanding more transparency behind their products and are wanting to know where their products come from and the makers behind them, OmMade Meet the Maker’s retail concept is here to stay.

For makers, OmMade Meet the Maker accepts applications from all types of makers year-round for future spaces. If you’re a maker and would like to apply for a consignment opportunity, have a look on their website.

Just in time for the upcoming festive season, OmMade Meet the Maker have secured another two locations for their retail concept at Westfield Tea Tree Plaza and West Lakes. These stores will be open in mid-October and early November. Keep an eye-out on their social media to see the official opening dates.

A big thank you to OmMade Meet the Maker for inviting me along to their VIP Night.
