CVNT - Adelaide Fringe Review

All hail the lord and saviour CVNT, as Sophie Power opens up the depths of her entire body for an hour of worship, hymns, and orgasmic pleasure.
Audience participation is in abundance, so this is certainly not a show where you’ll sit back and simply watch. It’ll make you laugh, squirm, and perhaps even moist.
Emerging from behind the curtains in a sneaky strip-tease like manner, Power bedazzles the crowd with a costume of a literal human-sized vagina. This vag holds many surprises, twists, and pleasure points for your utmost desire.
What is the structure of the show you may ask? It can only be described as chaotic debauchery.
Switching between a sex education crash course on the female anatomy, a cult-like atmosphere of chanting and self-empowerment, facing your fears, an audience contest, a hypotic hymn, and some classic 90’s pleasurable bangers, there’s enough variety to keep it all together.
CVNT switches interchangeably between its purpose of an alternative name for a vagina, and as a common vulgar term to use to refer to a person or situation. Obviously the term can imply both, but it does seem a little confusing given the context of Power’s costume and wide-opening in the early stages of the show. But hey, c*nts come in all shapes, sizes, and colours, so maybe there’s no such structure needed at all.
Overall, it’s a freakily unhinged and raucous experience that’s inherently silly at heart. As it’s heavily reliant on audience participation, you better bring all your pals, because for one night, everyone has a c*nt, and is a c*nt. A-freakin’ menses, babes.
